Rhodan G5B24072 G5 GPS Anchor 80 lb Thrust Saltwater Trolling Motor, 24V, 72" Shaft, Black
The Rhodan G5 GPS Anchor trolling motor combines GPS-guided boat positioning with a 80 lb thrust system, a 72-inch shaft and a black finish. This 24V configuration is designed for higher bow heights or conditions requiring greater propeller immersion. GPS Anchor automatically adjusts steering and thrust to help hold the bow at a selected location, reducing the need to repeatedly reposition the boat while fishing. Wireless control, an onboard status display and a sliding mount make it practical to manage the motor from the boat and prepare it for deployment or storage.
Key Features & Benefits
- GPS Anchor Position Holding: Uses GPS position feedback to adjust thrust and steering automatically and maintain a selected bow position; the boat can weathervane with wind or current.
- Matched 24V Power and 80 lb Thrust: Factory-rated for 80 lb maximum thrust using a 24V DC battery system, with a manufacturer vessel-weight selection guideline below 6,000 lb.
- 72-Inch Shaft: The 72-inch shaft provides the reach intended for the specified hull and bow-height application. Choose shaft length based on measured bow height and expected conditions, not only boat length.
- Wireless FOB Control: Operate steering, variable speed, GPS Anchor, and other supported motor modes using the supplied wireless control fob.
- Track and Route Capabilities: Supports GPS-guided track and route functions, with four dedicated anchor memories and eight additional route/anchor memory locations.
- Onboard E-Paper Display: Base-mounted screen shows operating data such as battery voltage, motor current, GPS information and system status; push-button operation provides an additional control interface.
- Integrated Sliding Base: The sliding mounting system offers approximately 10 inches of travel to help position the motor for deployment and retract it while stowed.
- Marine-Ready Steering and Motor Assembly: A 316 stainless steel steering system, patented clutch mechanism, sealed steering components and protective lower-unit coating support saltwater use.
- App and Supported MFD Integration: Rhodan Gen5 provides an iOS/Android app and supported navigation-display integration for additional control options, subject to compatible equipment and connection requirements.
- Three-Blade Weedless Propeller: The supplied weedless propeller provides propulsion for controlled positioning and conventional trolling-motor operation.

Compatibility
- Electrical System: Requires a properly configured 24V DC battery bank. A typical lead-acid/AGM configuration uses two 12V batteries wired in series; an appropriately specified 24V lithium battery system may also be used. Batteries and charger are not included.
- Boat Selection: Rhodan lists the 24V / 80 lb configuration for vessels weighing less than 6,000 lb. Motor suitability also depends on freeboard, current, wind, wave conditions and available bow mounting space.
- Shaft Length: Verify the 72-inch shaft offers appropriate propeller immersion in the intended fishing conditions. Rhodan recommends sizing up when between lengths.
- Chartplotter Integration: Rhodan identifies compatible Simrad, Lowrance and Raymarine systems. Available functions depend on the exact display, software and required integration hardware. Do not assume universal NMEA 2000 or Garmin display compatibility.
- Smartphone Control: Rhodan app support is available for compatible iOS and Android devices.
- Electrical Protection: Rhodan specifies a 60A breaker as required and recommends its compatible trolling motor plug. These accessories are not listed as standard motor-package items.
Installation & Setup
Mount the quick-release bracket to a structurally sound bow surface with adequate clearance for the steering head, shaft and propeller throughout stowing and deployment. Set the sliding base and depth-adjustment collar for the vessel, then connect to a correctly fused 24V DC battery system following Rhodan’s installation instructions. Rhodan recommends 6 AWG cable for battery runs under 15 feet, 4 AWG for 15–25 feet and 2 AWG for runs over 25 feet; confirm installation-specific conductor length and protection requirements. Commission the GPS and heading functions as directed by the owner’s manual, and test motor clearance and operation before departure.
