25 Years of Excellence in Customer Service

The Rhodan G52W48072 Gen5 V2 GPS Anchor trolling motor pairs a 72-inch shaft with a 48V electrical system and a white finish for precision boat positioning and hands-free control while fishing. Its GPS-guided anchoring system automatically adjusts thrust and steering to help hold a selected location without the repeated adjustments required when manually operating a trolling motor.

This 72-inch configuration is intended for installations that need a balance of shaft reach and deck clearance. The motor integrates a readable base display, wireless FOB control, smartphone-app functions, and a sliding base for more flexible deployment and docking.

Key Features & Benefits

  • GPS Anchor Positioning: Automatically adjusts steering and propulsion to help maintain a selected position, reducing the need to manually correct for wind and current.
  • Wireless FOB Control: Operate supported steering and GPS Anchor functions from the supplied handheld wireless FOB.
  • Base-Mounted Display & Buttons: View battery voltage, current draw, speed, heading, anchor location and other motor information without needing a separate display at the helm.
  • 10-Inch Sliding Mount: An integrated base provides approximately 10 inches of fore-and-aft adjustment with locking positions for deployment and docking clearance.
  • App-Based Operation: Compatible Rhodan mobile-app controls provide additional motor functions from supported iOS and Android devices.
  • Compatible MFD Integration: Supports integration with specified Simrad, Lowrance and Raymarine displays using Rhodan-supported integration hardware and compatible software.
  • Marine-Ready Steering System: Features a 316 stainless steel steering assembly with patented clutch design, sealed steering components and protective lower-unit coating.
  • Three-Blade Weedless Propeller: Designed for efficient low-speed boat positioning and maneuvering around fishing locations.
  • Route & Position Memory: Provides four dedicated anchor memories plus eight locations that may be used for routes or anchor positions.
  • U.S. Manufacturing & Support: Manufactured and serviced by Rhodan in Sarasota, Florida using U.S. and globally sourced components.

Compatibility

  • Battery Bank: Requires a correctly configured 48V DC trolling-motor battery system; do not connect directly to a battery bank with a different nominal voltage.
  • Shaft Selection: 72-inch shaft. Choose shaft length according to bow height, normal wave conditions and adequate propeller immersion; Rhodan recommends moving to the next longer size when uncertain.
  • Electrical Protection: Rhodan recommends a 60A circuit breaker (A00155) and wiring sized to the installation.
  • Recommended Cable Sizing: Rhodan lists 6 AWG for runs under 15 ft, 4 AWG for 15–25 ft, and 2 AWG for runs over 25 ft; final sizing should follow applicable marine electrical standards.
  • Battery Recommendations: Rhodan lists a minimum 90Ah for lead-acid/AGM systems and 50Ah lithium capacity under typical conditions; 100Ah lithium is recommended for rough/offshore use.
  • Electronics: MFD controls are available only with specifically compatible Simrad, Lowrance or Raymarine systems and any required Rhodan integration components; compatibility varies by display/software.
  • Accessories: Rhodan A00152 trolling-motor plug/receptacle kit is a separately available option.

Installation & Setup

Mount the quick-release base to a strong, suitably backed bow surface and verify clearance for the 72-inch shaft through its full deployment, steering and stowage range. Use an appropriately configured 48V battery bank, install the recommended 60A circuit breaker and size conductors for the actual cable run. Secure wiring against abrasion, use marine-rated connections, and follow Rhodan’s current owner’s manual for setup, FOB pairing, GPS acquisition and any MFD integration. An adequate submerged propeller depth must be maintained in the expected sea conditions.
