The Icom IC-M803 is a long-range MF/HF marine SSB radio system for offshore and extended-cruising communication. It provides up to 150W PEP selectable RF transmit output, built-in Class E Digital Selective Calling, an intuitive separate controller with a wide-viewing-angle 4.3-inch color TFT display, and integrated GPS/GLONASS/SBAS positioning. Advanced RF direct-sampling receiver technology, dedicated DSC watchkeeping and instant audio replay help make important calls easier to receive and manage when underway.

Compatibility

• For vessels with a suitable 13.6V nominal DC power system and adequately sized wiring for up to 30A transmit current.
• Requires an appropriate marine MF/HF antenna installation and antenna-matching arrangement. The optional Icom AT-140 automatic tuner, antenna and tuner control cable are not included.
• Supports compatible NMEA 0183 instruments/chartplotters and GPS navigation-data integrations. This model does not provide NMEA 2000 connectivity.
• HF e-mail use requires compatible external computer/modem hardware and a suitable service.
• Marine MF/HF transmit authorization, frequency access and station licensing depend on jurisdiction and operating service; amateur-frequency operation requires appropriate authorization.

Installation Notes

• Mount the main transceiver in a protected, ventilated, accessible space; only the detached controller is rated IPX7.
• Connect controller to main unit with the supplied 5m (16.4ft) remote cable.
• Install the supplied GPS antenna where it can receive satellite signals.
• Provide a suitable HF antenna, grounding and bonding arrangement, and optional compatible antenna tuner as dictated by the vessel installation.
• Wire the 13.6V system for the published 30A maximum transmit draw and protect the supply with appropriate fusing.
• Configure MMSI and DSC information in accordance with the radio manual and applicable licensing requirements.
