Do you have a Premium factory sound system? Like a GM Delco Bose, Ford JBL, Nissan Bose, Mazda Bose, Chrysler Infinity, Honda/Acura Bose, Toyota Amplified System or Volkswagen Bose... If so, Now you can easily:
- Replace a factory stereo and keep the factory amplifiers or
- Replace the factory amplifiers and keep the factory stereo or
- Keep all of the factory system and add amplifiers (up to 4 channels)
- Click Here for Application Guide
The OEM-1 makes it easy to upgrade a factory ' premium' system, such as a GM Delco/ Bose® or a Ford/ JBL. Whether replacing the factory radio or amplifier, the OEM-1 is your 'plug and play' solution. The OEM-1 gives you a fast and accurate installation without the need to cut wires. The OEM-1 provides a 4 channel RCA output when adding an additional amplifier. The AOEM kits will also work for adding an amp to some GM vehicles without Bose® or with Monsoon.
Replacing or adding aftermarket equipment Kenwood, Panasonic, Alpine,
Pioneer, etc. to premium factory sound systems is quick and accurate with the
OEM-1 and two cables. The OEM-1 has an 18 pin connector on one end and a 16 pin
connector on the other. Once the correct cables are chosen for the particular
installation, just plug them into the OEM-1, plug them into the Factory Radio
Harness and plug them into the aftermarket equipment that is being installed. No
wire connections to the Factory Harness or Connectors are required. The Factory
Cables are not cut or removed - they are used.
Everything just plugs together. When you want to take out whatever you added or changed, just unplug it and plug in the old factory stuff. The vehicle is back to factory condition. You can use the amplifier or super stereo unit you added in your next leased or purchased vehicle.
The Factory Sound System Interface, Model OEM-1, is a four channel device that gives you 2:1 gain as well as infinite attenuation. This allows signal adjustment to the correct level between the factory system and what is being added or changed. All four channels are individually adjusted for accurate sound levels. Each channel completely isolates the aftermarket equipment from the factory system to give 100% compatibility in every installation. Correct phasing is maintained. Signal ground is also isolated to avoid ground loops.
Cables are available for GM Delco Bose, Nissan Bose, Ford JBL, Mazda Bose, Honda/Acura Bose, Chrysler Infinity, Toyota Amplified System and most aftermarket stereos and amplifiers.
- For use when replacing a stereo adding an amplifier sound system
- 4 channel, transformer isolated and adjustable Line Output Converter
- All four channels are individually adjusted
- Linear from 20-20,000 Hz (+/- 0.5dB)
- Maintains correct phase
- The OEM-1 requires PAC's vehicle-specific or stereo-specific cables for operation. Click Here for Application Guide
To replace the premium factory head unit:
Use one of the cables for aftermarket head units from list "A" (below), such as the Kenwood 16 pin. One end of this cable plugs into the head unit and the other end plugs into the OEM-1. Then choose a second cable from list "B" (below), such as the GM 12 pin for '84 to "90 Delco Bose systems. This cable plugs into the factory harness and the OEM-1. Adjust the potentiometers on the OEM-1 and mount the head unit in dash. The installation is complete.
To replace the premium factory amplifier:
Use one of the cables from List "C" (below) for the factory harness, such as Ford Premium Sound/JBL '89 & up. This cable plugs into the factory harness and into the OEM-1. The second cable is the AMP-RCA from list "B" (below). This cable plugs into the OEM-1 and has 4 channels of RCA output (using RCA jacks) and the trigger lead needed to turn on the amplifier(s). Run RCA leads and trigger extension to amplifier from the AMP-RCA. Run main amplifier power directly from battery. Connect speaker outputs of amplifier to factory or aftermarket speakers. (Note: the Ford "ADD-FRD1" includes connector for factory speakers.) Adjust the potentiometers on the OEM-1 and the installation is complete.
To add an amplifier to the premium factory system:
You can leave the premium factory system in place and add up to 4 channels of amplification with simple plug ins. Use a cable from list "C" (below) that plugs into the existing factory harness and the OEM-1. Then use the AMP-RCA from list "B" (below). As above it plugs into the OEM-1 and has 4 channels of RCA output and an amplifier trigger lead. Connect up the additional amplifier as above, adjust the OEM-1 and the installation is complete.
Click Here for an Application Guide Note: cables change as factory harnesses change and as aftermarket head units change. In addition, new models are added from time to time. Where a particular cable is not available, a universal cable is available: the RAD-UNV, (it requires wiring connections) for adding a head unit and/or an amplifier and a universal cable for adding a pre-amp RCA output head unit: the RAD-RCA.

* Note: All Ford vehicles with Lux Radios ( no antenna plugged into the radio in the dash) are not supported.
** Note: Not all Chryslers with an Infinity Sound System need an interface when replacing the stock radio. If the volume is low but balancing and fading is ok, you do not need an interface.
# Note: Just like factory stereo system, the warning chimes will play through front left RCA output of interface. Turning on rear entertainment controls will make rear outputs of interface play second audio source.
NOTE: If you need assistance getting the right product, call PAC Technical Support at (800) 854-3133 to find out which PAC product is right for your vehicle.
